AEEGTA Presents

The 2026 AEEGTA Energy Excellence Awards

The 2026 AEEGTA Energy Excellence Awards recognize excellence in energy management, innovation, and sustainability across the Greater Toronto Area. Organized by the Association of Energy Engineers – GTA Chapter, the awards celebrate individuals and organizations demonstrating measurable impact through energy efficiency, emissions reduction, operational improvement, and leadership in advancing sustainable practices. Across the award categories, nominees are assessed on practical contribution, innovation, measurable performance outcomes, and the effective use of modern tools and approaches to deliver meaningful results.

About the Awards

Wrench of the Year Award

The Wrench of the Year Award is a CAD 250 recognition presented to an individual who demonstrates exceptional hard work, hands-on expertise, and innovative thinking in the successful implementation of energy efficiency projects in 2025. The award is intended primarily for day-to-day site personnel working in facility management or maintenance roles whose behind-the-scenes efforts are critical to the sustained success of efficient building operations. It recognizes direct involvement in implementing and maintaining energy initiatives, including creative use of technologies, advanced analytics, or operational approaches that achieve measurable energy savings.

Energy Manager of the Year Award

The Energy Manager of the Year Award is a CAD 250 recognition presented to an individual who has successfully assessed energy use, designed effective energy programs, and implemented strategies that improve efficiency and reduce costs in 2025. The award recognizes strong leadership in energy management, including process redesign, retrofit implementation, systems integration, and the use of AI, data-driven analysis, or advanced engineering methods to achieve measurable energy, cost, and greenhouse gas reductions.

Corporate Energy Management Award

The Corporate Energy Management Award is a CAD 250 recognition presented to an organization that has demonstrated outstanding achievement in developing and implementing a corporate energy management program in 2025. The award honours organizations that have delivered strong results through structured energy management, scalable initiatives, and the integration of technology, sustainability, innovation, and modern analytical tools to improve energy performance and reduce emissions.

BOMA Enspire Scholarship

The BOMA Enspire Scholarship Award supports women and non-binary professionals building careers in the energy and environmental sectors across Canada. Through the CWEEL–BOMA Enspire CIET Scholarship, selected recipients receive access to two CIET course scholarships per calendar year, with a total value of approximately CAD 6,000. The scholarship is intended to reduce financial barriers to advanced technical training while strengthening leadership, representation, and sector capacity. Applicants must self-identify as female or non-binary and be current members of both AEE and CWEEL. Selection is based on professional potential, commitment to energy performance and decarbonization, leadership or measurable impact, and a clear rationale for how the training will be applied in practice.
