What is the ‘Wrench of the Year Award’?
The Wrench of the Year Award is a prestigious recognition with a value of CAD 250, designed to celebrate an individual who exemplifies hard work, hands-on expertise, and innovative thinking in successfully implementing energy efficiency projects in 2023 or 2024. This award particularly recognizes on-site facility personnel who often work behind the scenes to ensure the success and persistence of efficient projects. The award honors their contributions and provides meaningful recognition for their efforts.

Who is eligible for the award?
This award is targeted at day-to-day site personnel integral to the ongoing success of energy efficiency projects. Eligible candidates must:
- Be employed in a facility management or maintenance capacity full-time
- Have directly contributed to the implementation and maintenance of energy efficiency initiatives
- Demonstrate creative use of technologies, such as AI-driven systems, advanced analytics, or innovative operational approaches, to achieve measurable energy savings
How is the winner selected?
A committee of energy experts will assess nominations based on the nominee's contributions to optimizing systems, reducing energy usage, and maintaining the success of implemented projects. Nominees should provide clear evidence of energy and operational savings, including carbon footprint reductions and innovative problem-solving approaches.
When is the deadline for nominations?
Nominations are due by January 31, 2025.
How do I nominate?
Please complete the application form and email it to communications@aeegta.org. The Awards Committee will review applications and may follow up, as necessary. The winner will be announced at the year-end chapter event.
